Differences in Spine Surgery

parrel2Traditional open back surgery and other minimally invasive spine procedures are limited to one level of treatment per experience. They use MRI and CT scans, which are single position snapshots to determine where they will operate and hope it is the right spot. With Spine Specialists of Atlanta, multiple levels can be treated in one experience. The cutting edge scope allows the surgeon to view the entire spine, in real time, to see your problem areas.

With the patient on their stomach or on their side, whichever is most appropriate, our surgeon uses tiny instruments and is able to treat multiple areas, on both sides of the spine in one procedure, with little to no scar tissue afterwards.

Research reveals that 95 out of 100 people do not need hardware or fusion. Back fusions involve very expensive hardware that needs to fuse with the spine and up to 50% of fusions fail to fuse. Fusions create stress on the levels above and below diffuse area and should be avoided when possible.
